Small Groups We believe that small groups are one of the primary vehicles in which people are equipped to become disciples of Jesus. Our goal is that every person has the opportunity to connect with a small group (6-12 people) for the study of God’s Word, for prayer, and service. Some of these groups meet at church; others meet in the homes of Calvin families. In a small group people develop strong personal relationships with others and are encouraged to grow in their knowledge of God and the things of His kingdom. Small Groups provide a context for spiritual maturity, encouragement, Christian friendships, discipleship, connecting newcomers to our church, empowering for ministry, and much, much, more! J.I. Packer writes: “We should not think of our fellowship with other Christians as a spiritual luxury, an optional addition to the exercises of private devotions. Fellowship is one of the great words of the New Testament: it denotes something that is vital to a Christian’s spiritual health, and central to the church’s true life…The church will flourish and Christians will be strong only when there is fellowship.” |
