“Of Prayer”
by Doug Eldon
In humble submission to God’s sovereign lordship We ask His forgiveness, confessing our sins
Repentance, obedience to all that He shows us Salvation and life with Him, through prayer, begins
God loves us and asks us to honestly seek Him Above all, to love Him—His greatest command
To live for His glory, on earth to represent Him Communicate with Him through prayer as He planned
We honor, acknowledge, revere God as Master We thank Him for blessings; His goodness we know We worship and praise Him—prayers of adoration In spirit and in truth not just form or show
Through prayer we’re united with God, Who’s in heaven The power and privilege of doing His will We draw down His blessings, in prayer persevering In faith and assurance our prayers He’ll fulfill
God purposed that we pray: He wants our involvement Accomplishing through prayer what He wants to do His Kingdom established on earth as in Heaven Our fellowship with Him through prayer becomes true
We pray to our Father because we’re His children We pray in the Name of Christ Jesus His Son
Authority given with His Holy Spirit Our victory over sin and the devil is won
In prayer we inquire for God’s wisdom and guidance Direction, correction, provision, and care
Petitions for self, for others intercessions Protection, help, and blessing we ask for in prayer
Through prayer we are transformed: our sanctification In quiet times with God, we seek Him alone
With others, agreement in joined supplication In groups or congregations we make requests known
