MINISTRY TEAMSDeacons - The role of deacons at Calvin is to assist and encourage the body of Christ to come alongside one another at all times, but particularly in times of physical, spiritual or emotional need. Our 10 deacons are men and women who are committed to 1) welcoming everyone who walks in the door of our church, 2) assuring that everyone who desires to will become connected with others at Calvin, and 3) responding to everyone in the Calvin family with love and care during times of need. Elders - it is the duty of elders to nurture the faith and life of the congregation. Together with the pastor they encourage the people in the worship and service of God, pray for the church and its members (especially those who are sick), assist in worship, teach the word of God, and serve the sacrament (Lord's Supper). At Calvin, 9 or 10 of the ordained elders are elected by the members to serve staggered three-year terms as members of the Session, which is the main governing body of the congregation, ruling on most administrative, financial, and disciplinary matters. Health Ministry - The health ministry
promotes an atmosphere within the church community that supports
the healing mission of the church. Its goals are to identify those
people with special health needs, provide resources to motivate
and nurture health and wellness for individuals and the community,
and identify people who can respond to the specific needs of others
in the congregation. The ministry also promotes healthy behaviors,
ensures strong support to those who are not well, and provides support
and resources to pastors and leaders to help them respond to health
issues or questions for members. In addition, we provide access
to resources within the healthcare system and maintain a health
and wellness center. Web Team - We are working to create a web presence for Calvin Church to provide our church members with an online community, to minister to those outside our church, and to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ. We provide information about church life (publications, discussion boards, photos) and current activities (announcements, calendars). We hope to be a valuable resource, with study notes, sermons, articles and useful stories from our church community. If you would like to get involved, or have something to contribute, please contact us. Worship Planning Team - The worship planning
team works with the pastor to help our congregation worship together
with reverence, conviction, and enthusiasm. We assist in planning
and leading worship services, discuss theological issues pertaining
to worship, and create opportunities for people in the congregation
to learn more about worshipping and leading worship.
